WELCOME

Bringing the atmosphere of Asia’s late-night drinking dens to Jersey, Awabi serves modern pan-Asian food within the context of a European wine bar. Think of us as your friendly local Japanese Izakaya, Parisian wine bar, Korean soju tent and British gastropub all rolled into one, but in the centre of St Helier.

OUR STORY

The awabi is something that transcends cultures, connecting East and West and uniting the rich and poor.

In Asia, the odd-looking creature fetches hundreds of pounds per kilo when dried and salted. Somewhat of a delicacy and status symbol, it’s most often reserved for only the most lavish of wedding ceremonies or royal banquets.

Meanwhile, here in Jersey, it’s a free meal if you know where (and when) to look for it. In fact, you can pluck one off the beach when it’s a spring tide, just like many of the islanders who relied on them during the occupation.

A luxury universally adored in both Jersey and Asia, the awabi – or ormer as it's known locally – encapsulates everything we’re trying to achieve with our pan-Asian dining experience. Creating Asian-fusion dishes made using local ingredients, and bringing our favourite dishes from Asia’s finest restaurants and most humble street food markets together under one roof.
